Breaking these rules will result in either a warning or a ban depending on severity. If you’re banned and then cry about it, you’ll be directed to this page, so please take a moment to glance over the rules beforehand.
I) Basic Etiquette
- Do not name-call or insult in a way that is not *blatantly* joking or sarcastic (asshole, bitch, retard, etc).
- Do not swear excessively, especially *at* another user.
- Do not be rude. For example, if a user posts something they have created, do not comment “gay”, “bad”, etc. Criticism is one thing, being a dick is different.
- Generally, do not harass, threaten, embarrass or cause distress, unwanted attention or discomfort to another member.
- Releasing, linking, or requesting personal information is not allowed.
- Using “extreme” insults or phrases will result in an instant ban (“kys”, maliciously-used racial slurs, etc).
II) Antagonizing and Retaliating
While the idea behind vigilantism is typically meant to be benevolent, please leave the enforcement of the rules to mods/admins.
Any attempts to oust, shame, gang-up on, or generally “bully” someone in the name of righteousness is the equivalent of harassment, and thus is breaking rules set in (I) above.
If you had been attacked, report it to @ralph or [email protected]. Don’t put up a fight, simply flag and ignore.
III) Allowable Content
- Do not post adult content (nudity, pornography).
- Do not post gore or any shock imagery (gore, death).
- Do not post links to adult websites, shock websites, or shady/malicious websites.
- Do not discuss pirated software or other contraband.
- Do not spam. Posting useless or stupid comments is spam. Posting numerous times in a row to “flood” is spam. Posting random nonsense that doesn’t make sense is spam.
This is a stickfigure-animation website, so “animated” gore is obviously allowed. The rules above are more directed at real-life things.
Edit February 27, 2020: As of today, the above limitations will also strictly apply to even PRIVATE groups or any sort of conversation made on the StickNodes.com website, public or private.
In general, this is a stickfigure animation website. Most posts here should be on that topic – stickfigures and animation/art, preferably with Stick Nodes.
This doesn’t mean occasional off-topic discussion/meming/shitposting isn’t allowed, but it should be that – occasional. If you consistently post “random” content (to be determined by the mods/admins) this will count as spamming.
IV) Off-Site Behavior
While these rules only govern the website of StickNodes.com, your behavior off-site may have an impact on your status here. This includes websites like Discord, Twitter, email, or even real-life. If adequate and reasonable proof is shown of harassment off-site (to be determined by mods/admins), you can expect to face reasonable repercussions.
V) Locked Threads & Admin Authority
Occasionally a thread may be locked if it’s getting out of control or contains rule-offenses. Typically a reason will be given. If a user decided to bypass the reason for the locked thread (making a new thread, continuing the discussion in another random thread, etc) they will be warned/banned. The thread was locked for a reason.
Don’t expect to be treated the same as user XYZ because user XYZ did this or that and got away with it – don’t play that game, there are no winners. If you don’t want to be banned, don’t break the rules.
VI) Repercussions
You can reasonably expect to be warned once or twice before a ban occurs. Alternatively, your threads may be locked if they are getting out of control.
While many of these rules are subjective and may have to be decided on a case-by-case basis, some offenses are worthy of an instant-ban. Bans may last a few days or even a week – or may be permanent.
You may appeal bans to [email protected] but do keep in mind these rules when you do.
