This is a red packet, or "Angpao" in some parts of Asia.

The red packet is a...well...packet, that contains money(Bet you'll love this Ralph). The packet is used as a tradition for kids where the children say "恭喜发财" meaning "Have a prosperous New Year", and then their family members from other families(Relatives and whatnot) give them the packet with the amount of money they think the kids deserve.

There are many Chinese characters for the packet center, but I placed "福", which means "Blessings". Hoped you enjoyed me teaching you Chinese(tho you'll forget it eventually)

In Hong Kong and some other places I think, The red packets are pronounced “lei see”… My family gives me these only on special occasions.. And I never used the money ever. My mom took the money.
