Weapons
Hello again. This is a neat pack consisting of some Chinese weapons from across the eras. I tried to make it very similar to the Japanese weapon pack, both having the same amount of base weapons, three scabbards, and a variant. 14 in total. Here is a brief summary of each weapon in order:
1. Jian & Scabbard
The Jian is a double-edged sword dating back over 4,000 years ago from a family of arms in the Shang Dynasty. It is known as the "gentlemen of a hundred soldiers". It was commonly made of steel but in some cases made of pure forged jade.
2. Dadao
The Dadao is a chopping sword designed for use of two hands. It is most often associated with Chinese law and was used by the police, militia personnel, and executioners of ancient China. The name Dadao literally means "big knife".
3. Dao & Scabbard
The Dao is another chopping and slicing sword that is often referred to as the Chinese sabre. Along with the Jian, it is one of the first weapons of China used in warfare.
4. Hook Sword The Hook Sword is a very unique weapon that require immense training and practice to master. Like the medieval flail, it is a weapon that is more likely to kill the wielder than the enemy if you aren't careful.
5. Chui
A huge metal/bronze sphere on a large rod, the Chui is the Chinese equivalent of the sledgehammer. Obviously, it needed a lot of brute force, since the strength to wield and swing one of these monsters was quite considerable.
6. Meteor Hammer
Sometimes referred to as just meteor, the meteor hammer is a "soft" weapon (Despite hitting like, as the name implies, a meteor), being flexible enough to be used for a very large variety of tasks. It is basically the ball version of the Japanese kusarigama.
7. Changdao & Scabbard
The Changdao was a large two-handed sword, and for a short period of time was a general term for big two-handed Chinese swords. For this weapon, I did not use the traditional design, but instead the design used for Zhanhu's changdao from For Honor.
8. Bo Staff
It's a big stick
9a & 9b. Fangtian Ji & Variant
The Ji, or in this case Fangtian Ji, was a polearm that pairs crescent blades with the traditional spearhead for a lethal combination. Realistically speaking the Fangtian Ji variant was actually called the Qinglong Ji, but who honestly cares.
10. Guandao
Formerly called the yanyuedao in Chinese, the Guandao is a large polearm that had immense chopping and slicing power with a far reach. It is similar to the European Glaive and a bit like the Japanese Naginata. The purpose of this weapon was to disarm and deflect, not attack and strike.
All of these weapons were used with great skill and respect (Maybe except the Chui, it's basically a bowling bowl attached to a hefty stick??).
The next weapon pack with be the Roman and Greek pack, a pack with both Roman and Greek weapons combined. I'll try to make it consistent and have 10 total figs, 3 scabbards, etc etc. After that will be the large pack of European weapons, with maybe 20 figures in total.
Before these will be made though, I am going to release a Japanese decor pack and maybe release my Jin Sakai if I manage to redesign him onto a new base.
Stay tuned for more 🙂
