The Starr revolver (Starr DA) is a double-action revolver used in the western theater of the American Civil War and the early days of the west, Designed by Ebanezer (Eban) Townsend Starr in January 15th 1856, it saw production in the Starr Arms Company of Binghamton and Yonkers, New York, producing around 23,000 guns from 1858 until 1862, when the DA revolver ceased production for it's Single Action variant.
The Starr DA is featured in the 1992 film Unforgiven, when William Munny (Clint Eastwood) takes it from its case to determine whether he has lost his former shooting ability. The self-cocking trigger can be seen in this film in great detail.
