So, April came and went, no 1.7.0. What’s up?
Better yet, what new features will 1.7.0 even contain?
Keep updated
Firstly, just to let everyone know in case you don’t for some reason (why!?), follow Stick Nodes on Facebook, Google+, or on Twitter to get more frequent updates and community-based content than just these monthly update posts. Stuff like inspirational animations, best-of stickfigure uploads, and other relevant Stick Nodes news is posted every week.
Okay, back to 1.7.0 stuff
So, the plan for 1.7.0 (and the subsequent 1.7.1, etc…) versions are intended to get new features into the app, rather than just fixes. The first update, 1.7.0 contains one of the most-requested features for Stick Nodes. What is it? Well, I’ll let this first screenshot show it off.
Animating with a camera, or vcam as many of you call it, will make animating more cinematic experiences much easier. Instead of moving everything to simulate the camera moving, you can actually just now move the camera, as well as zoom it in and out.
It’s not ready yet, but it is partially functional and I can attest to how great it is. It really opens a whole new realm of possibilities for animating in Stick Nodes!
The second screenshot shows off another requested feature. The FPS limit has been raised from 20 to 60. Now there’s no need to “hack” the app into playing your 24 or 30 (or 60) FPS animations. Note that tweening isn’t possible with any FPS higher than 20, as the app simply doesn’t refresh fast enough to display such a high framerate (61+ FPS).
Edit: Want to see the v-cam in action? Check out the animated GIFs I posted on the Stick Nodes Facebook and Google+ pages!
So what’s holding it back from release?
I’m also revamping the MP4 export process. At least I’m trying to, it’s a bit technical and difficult to get working. I’m hoping to get rid of those color artifacts that I notice on some videos from users (on Youtube). If this also increases the speed of the export process, that’s a bonus, but I’m not sure.
I’ve also been busy lately with other stuff, but I hope to get 1.7.0 released soon! Stay updated with the social media links above.

V-CAAAM!! Yeaahhh!
Im praying for that “make faster the export proccess” cause i reaaaalllyyyy wanna make long projects:D
Gud luck ralph;)
Thanks. Yeah I’m hoping so too, but it may be the same speed. I’m really just trying to fix the quality issue, if speed increase comes as well, I won’t complain.
Im so exited
Excited.
Give us a demo about the camera mode NOW!!!!!!!!
I’ve actually posted a GIF of it in action on the Stick Nodes Facebook and Google+ pages, check it out.
The fact that the v-cam will be included in 1.7 makes the projects loading Muuuuchhh slower, and that’s a minor problem, isn’t it? Or did you just planned to program the v-cam so it doesn’t makes the loadings slower?
It shouldn’t increase the project loading speed at all, I think. Only thing that would effect that is the number of frames (and stickfigures per frame).
What do you mean by affecting the numbers of frames? Do you mean that you should make less frames on your animation to make it load properly ?
Well, what were you asking originally? I was just saying that the speed of opening a project file is determined by the amount of frames in the project. As in, a 10-frame project will open instantly, but a 1,000-frame project may take a few seconds (depends on the device).
I’m just asking if the v-cam would affect the loading speed if it is activated on the project, but I guess you don’t exactly know for the moment so i’ll wait until the 1.7 comes out.
Um ralph you know what is the release date? I cant wait the update D:|
Coming soon™ (no date yet).
Well, here we go again.Whatch it be next year when it comes out.XD
BANNED.
Thanks
Ralph Can I know when is the update please for the 1.7.0 release
And i are a (nodes) creator and thanks forma this BIIG app 😀
There is a language not much people know about which is Hmong of course it’s on Google translate but I could speak the language because Google translate doesn’t have all the translation or words for the language. I can be the Hmong translator or it might be useless because a lot of Hmong people know how to speak Hmong but their also a lot of non English Hmong speakers. Off topic?
Hmong sounds made up.
make the app free bro 🙂
Probably nah, I kinda need to make some income from it, or no more updates ever.
I would recommend adding Opacity, I would love for thing to face in and out without changing the color 50 million times.
yeah i agree
I’d love it too, but no opacity, sorry. Too CPU-intensive for many mobile devices.
damn well now I see why people use 1 colored stickmen
