The Midnight order is made up of various individuals known as Sages who serve as teachers and mentors to the younger members. These sages are also the ones meant to perform Soul exchanges with Eternity and become Crescents. However, even these loyal sages can be seen as unfit to ascend into the role of a crescent. Sages are also known to be practitioners of secret techniques known as The Black Arts. The black arts are set of techniques passed down from generation to generation, these can consist of both primary and secondary magics. It is unknown if there are any tertiary magics produces using the black arts. It is rumored that there are types of Sorcery produced using the black arts, commonly referred to as Nightfall Sorcery. The black arts are actually a type of Dark magic.
Most members of the midnight order are peaceful monks and travelers that have great love the planet and everything on it as well as everything that has ever died. During a soul exchange the members dress themselves in dark robes and paint their faces with both black and white paint. The white paint represents life and the black represents death. The paint is placed on the forehead to create a white circle and a black circle that is slightly smaller than the white one is placed within. Then two black streaks are placed under each of the eyes to represent each of Miod\’s limbs. During the ceremony, four torches are lit on the walls, with the fifth being held by the person preforming the exchange. If the exchange is successful, the person will start to gain new power and even foreign magic, according to text and runes left behind by the Old Moon, otherwise known as Ulgrim. He was the few that became a Crescent and last person to perform a successful soul exchange. Many have tried but, no one was deemed worthy, so the sages decided to wait until the time was right to make preparations for another ceremony. If this new ceremony is successful, that person would be known as the New Moon and a Crescent(lower god).
