yeah outlines can be hit or miss
but the eye mayhaps should look less crazed and more natural
i don’t mean the red/demon-look, but rather, it looks fake, it should be more where it’s partially behind the eyelids a bit

the no outlines looks more realistic, it tells us that its more 3d than it is 2d.
But if you wanna go cartoony, your best bet is outlines.
But if your going for realism, no outlines would work.
But to answer your question, i like no outlines.
