So I skipped the October update post – my bad. I figured you guys couldn’t take another “the update will be out soon” post. But there’s good news now, the update is released – for Android, iOS coming soon!
See this video before reading on:
Sounds for Pro users!
Yep, it’s finally here. The hands-down most-requested feature has finally arrived – sound effects.
I’ve been working on this update since mid-July – MID-JULY. Let that sink in a little. It’s been nearly four-months in the making and boy, was it a headache to get this working.
I know some of you are already at your keyboard ready to tear me a new one calling me greedy and asking for sounds in the Free version, but hear me out.
This was the biggest update to Stick Nodes since its release over a year ago. Like I said, it took me four months to develop – in fact there were quite a few times I was ready to give up due to it seeming impossible. Asking for $2 as a solo developer for all of this work isn’t greedy, right? That’s less than half the price of a typical morning coffee. Plus, from a technical standpoint, only Pro users can export MP4 videos – it wouldn’t make sense for Free users to use sounds since they can’t export them (GIFs obviously don’t have audio).
I hope you guys understand that. And don’t get me wrong, I completely understand that some of the younger users are just simply unable to buy any app, whether it be due to your parents or lack of money – trust me, I was in your shoes at one point. To you I can only recommend asking your parents really, really, really nicely and hoping for the best 🙂
This update also comes with 40 sounds to get you started. You can of course use your own MP3 files as sounds, but with the app comes numerous DBZ sound effects, punches, weapons, swishes, and many other miscellaneous sounds for use in any animation!
Please feel free to let me know of any other specific sounds you’d like to see included with Stick Nodes!
Changelog
Besides sounds, there are also a few other changes, here they are:
- (Pro only) SOUNDS have been added! You can now add sounds to your animations and exported MP4 files!
- Exporting GIFs/MP4s no longer locks up your device.
- Users can now permanently delete projects/stickfigures from their device.
- Import/open list is now always alphabetized.
- Fix for crashes when saving large projects/stickfigures.
- Fix for bug where sometimes saving a stickfigure didn’t save it correctly.
- Tons of other tweaks and fixes!
And that’s about it for now. Tomorrow I begin work on attempting to port this over to iOS. I can’t give a release date yet, this port can either go smoothly or be very, very difficult – we’ll see.

No sounds in free version?
Just gonna sit back and watch the anarchy unfold.
Just standing here like
I’ll get the batmobile tank.
A and your right anarchy has been released ○_○
Ralph I have a idea how about pro version can be sold on holidays for free by the way my parents arent nice to me they always so no No NO NO!! What im talking about is that thing you said next to the update were you ask your perents so plz accept this idea I know if you do a bunch of people will love you for doing this for
The people who cant or perents wont let them I hope you accept this idea sincerely the matt matt =)
I may or may not already have some plan for the upcoming holiday season…
○_○ well I better not get my hopes up to fast 🙁
That’s the spirit!
So could you give the users a hint for the next holidays thing your doing like will it be related to the holiday or something really special by the way dont you just update sticknodes pro again and when they have a different update the free users can the next update witch is the sounds \=▪
No hints yet for that, but December is coming up so you’ll all know soon enough. But I can say that sounds will not be coming to the Free version, sorry.
This will make me the things more easy for me maybe i don’t need to use a video editor xD
Maybe for other reasons like video effects, by the way other idea of mine. a option for select figures and move it with out using panning mode… i noticed when i lock a figure and try to move other figures, all got moved ;/
That does the thing harder because is a have figures like background, return the figures to the original position is very hard, or just fix that or take my suggerency of the option. Maybe is a bug? Im just wondering about it.
You know, I never thought about that.
In the animation I made for this post, I had all of the BG elements locked, but I still used panning mode to move everything when he jumped into the air. It was useful like that.
However, I do see how you’d expect stickfigures that are locked to NOT be affected by panning mode – it does make more sense I suppose.
I wonder if I should make it so that all stickfigures except locked ones are moved by panning mode?
you need to do it or do something about it, if you like your options actually just change something in the UI
a option (check box) for the panning mode like… “move locked figures” in panning mode options. 😀
I might do that checkbox thing, good idea. Next update should be a minor one, I’m expecting bug fixes and whatnot, so hopefully won’t be too long until I get it out.
Well hopefully you’ll decide to sell the pro version free sooner or later =|
Also ralph you can do challenges like make a animation 30 or 40 secs long and the reward is what you choose ofcourse or like make a stickfigure that will be at the top of the list this is my idea you should do for challenges
Hey Ralph!
I Like the new update! But i’ll not buy the pro version now. When Sticknodes pro will get more great features, i promise, i will buy it! Keep up the amazing work!
*Waits for selection tool*
Lol, don’t know about a selection tool. Would require lots of reworking of the code, like, lots and lots of it.
Oh ;_;
BTW im also a 9yrs old flash animator (i dont use flash i use the ALTERNATIVE to flash) Add sounds TO FREE VER!!!!FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:(
PLS
Huh, so what exactly is the alternative to Flash?
Also, sorry, but sounds are for Pro users only.
