Well, it’s about time to get on with it and clean off the Christmas posts from the front page I suppose. Here we go with the first Stick Nodes update of 2024! While it’s not a “major” update, it still gets its own new post!

Nerd mode?
So, why is this called “The 🤓 Update”? Well, it’s because of that one bulletpoint above: “Added option for “Nerd Mode” to the “App Settings” window”.
To be honest, this update is basically a “general minor improvements and conveniences” update, but that doesn’t quite ring as a title. So we decided to focus on the nerd thing instead.
What is the nerd thing you ask? Well, when enabled, it greatly reduces all the yapping in the app – which just gives a cleaner appearance and allows quicker access to much of the UI. It’s for you advanced, grass-adverse users.
Preserve selections
This is what I’d consider one of the major changes here, and it’s a very minor addition. Check “App Settings” for a new toggle to “Preserve selection when changing frames”. This allows you to keep your selection active as you tap across frames – your selected figure/node on each frame (if it exists) stays selected. Allowing you to very quickly change a value on something on multiple frames.
Splitting segments
This was something that was in demand for a long time!
Instead of only being able to split a segment in half, you’re now able to select how many splits you want to make.
Of course, this is only a Creation Mode thing, but I imagine it will help you Jackfly-types with your artistic freedom. Similarly, the new ability to push a branch of nodes back/forward (instead of only segment by segment) will also help a lot as well!
Upcoming Stuff
The next update is already in the works, and I’m targeting as release date of 4/20 for reasons that will soon become clear. Of course there may be one or two minor 4.1.X updates between now and then.
Also, the planning for the next big official collab is already in the works! Well, sort of. Squi keeps sending me questionable GIFs while pushing me to get on with it already.
Ngl thought you’d make the “keep selection thing” a default by on option 🤓
that is a great example of a horrible idea
Fym. It’s a basic upgrade. Watch the comment like/dislike ratio nuke yo ass.
its a major UX change that most users don’t need (most users are casual users), when they tap a frame they are expecting to select the frame
i swear you are just screwing with me at this point, no matter what i do its the wrong choice even if it’s exactly what i’d expect you to say
i commend you for it actually its the long troll
Bro is huffing and puffing on copium like a big bad wolf from three little piggies
Can I have it for free????????
Just asking
Reason is my sticknodes pro is not updating and I’m broke to re buy it
during christmas time very often codes are given out either on Ralph’s twitter on /stickfigure/ page, so that’d be your best shot
WTF IS A CODE?!? (nevermind im dumb asl)
These quality of life improvements are actually really nice.
The absence of splitting segments & move branches features are things I encounter a lot in my figure creating as an issue. Glad to see the app becoming more and more user friendly
You boutta love the QoL shits we’re (me) cooking till 5.0.0 release then.
Im hyped.
This is really a nerd moment of all time
(Guess I’ll be enabling nerd mode thanks Ralph)
Nice.
the
update is mid
