New Version (2.6.5) – The Goteem Update

This pertains to IOS users only, there is a new version and no, it’s not 3.0.0!

As a result, this update has been dubbed the Goteem Update due to the inevitable roller coaster of emotion IOS users will feel seeing that there is in fact a Stick Nodes update, only to come crashing down to reality when they see it’s just a bug-fix patch. The name was lovingly suggested by our resident sadist, arcionek.

Changelog (2.6.5)

  • Fixed IOS 13 failure to export MP4s with sound
  • Fixed IOS 13 / Safari / Files issue with opening stickfigures and packs with Stick Nodes
  • (While this update is listed as 2.6.5 on the App Store, it’s technically still 2.6.4. This is to prevent IOS users from being 1 version ahead of Android and thus causing a ruckus with file compatibility.)

While getting this update out, I rigorously tested a few different ways of importing files (stickfigures, packs, and sounds) into SN. Through Safari, through Chrome, through the Files app.

I’ve noted they’re all different, and all require a different instruction set. I will be coming up with a simplified instructional graphic for how to import these specific files types and will update this post with it when it is complete.

Edit: See the top of the stickfigures page for a quick outline on the different ways of downloading stickfigures, packs, and sounds for Android, IOS, and IOS13.

3.0.0 News

Update 3.0.0 aka the Movieclip Update is coming very soon. (Where have I heard that before?)

No but seriously, now that I have this IOS 13 issue out of the way I can focus on 3.0.0 again, and it’s already basically “done” – I just need to correct and change a few more things the beta testers have pointed out to me and then get all the new text translated into all necessary languages – and we’re pretty much done. I don’t have a date yet. Once I have the translators working on the, well, translations – I’ll have a date. Very soon.

Okay bye.

New Version (2.6.1 – 2.6.4) – The “Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru” Update

Edit July 24th – Version 3.0.0 of Stick Nodes is in the works – and has been for a few months. If you haven’t been keeping updated with my posts on the activity section of the website, or even my periodic tweets, you may not know what’s coming.

The biggest new feature, which is taking the longest to properly program and add to the app, is the idea of Movieclips. If you’re familiar with Flash (Adobe Animate), you know what Movieclips are.

Basically, they’re mini-animations that can be added to your project. They can also be saved to a file, like stickfigures. In the preview to the right, the “aura” figure is actually a Movieclip containing a few frames of the aura “animating”, and it is just dropped into the project and as you can see, the animation for it is handled automatically across all of the frames it appears in.

This will be incredibly useful for repeating/looping animations, like walk cycles, sirens, fires, water, a passing-by background (if your scene is in a car, for example), etc….

The release date is still up in the air. This was/is a massive undertaking and is taking a lot of time to get right – hoping for some time in August.

Edit April 15th – Version 2.6.4 is out for Android and is already uploaded to the App Store (should be out in a day).

Changelog (2.6.4)

  • Fixed crash with eyedropper/color-picker for some devices
  • Made “Submit stickfigure” window act like “Send files” window in regards to preserving current selection when typing new filter text
  • Fixed some typos

This update was just a few bug fixes that would have bothered me if I left them for the weeks/month(s) it will take to work on 3.0.0.

No but seriously this time, this is the last 2.X.X update.

Edit April 9th – Version 2.6.3 is now out for IOS as well.

Edit April 7th, again – Version 2.6.3 is out for Android, I borked Creation Mode when not in left-hand mode. This is pushed out to Google Play and Amazon stores right now and should be live momentarily. The IOS release was canceled and will be re-submitted soon.

Changelog (2.6.3)

  • Look I don’t really actually know what I’m doing here it’s all a charade

Edit April 7th – Version 2.6.2 is out for Android, and is already uploaded to the App Store – will be live there in less than 24 hours. This version fixes a few bugs.

Changelog (2.6.2)

  • Fixed color window in left-hand mode
  • Reorganized left-hand mode a little
  • Fixed bug regarding “Add tweened frame” and stickfigures locked to the camera not tweening

Edit April 4th – This update is now out on the IOS App Store as well.

Why is it called the “Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru” update?

Because I’m racist and this update includes a translation of the app into Japanese courtesy of resident Japanese wizard Zordoron Rez. Shouts out to him and his kung-fu kanji skills okay I’m done trying to be witty let’s get on with it.

Changelog (2.6.1)

  • Added Japanese as a new language! Thanks to @Zordoron_Rez on Twitter!
  • Fixed color picker not working on some devices.
  • The “copy stickfigure properties” button can now copy a stickfigure’s layering position in the frame.
  • Added “left-hand” mode to App Settings. Maybe someone will find it useful if for nothing else, just to look different and edgy.
  • Fixed polyfill anti-alias lines issue.
  • Some tweaks to minor things

So there’s not much fun stuff this update, but I had to fix some bugs and I really wanted to get the app localized into Japanese for increased financial gain because there’s a lot of Japan boiz that I’m sure would love to get in some animation action!

Now, unless I need to get a bug fix update out…2.6.1 will be the final update of Stick Nodes…2.

Next update I’ll be transitioning the app nomenclature to “Stick Nodes 3.X.X” and as you recall, Stick Nodes first transitioned into the “2.0.0” versioning when it got a major facelift in the UI (which I seem to remember lots of you babies crying about it but now it’s pretty damn BETTER HUH?)

I digress…

Stick Nodes 3.0.0 will change the game a bit, so it may take a while for me to get it out, but don’t worry, it’s coming.

New Version (2.6.1) – The DLC Update

Edit April 3rd: This is/was an April Fools joke. There is no DLC for Stick Nodes. Some of you guys be gullbile af.

Yes you read that right, I’ve finally dived into the realm of DLC – much thanks to the support of many of you.

This update is currently out for Android devices and will be live on IOS in the next couple days.

Changelog (2.6.1)

  • Max-node limit increase
  • Small bug fixes and whatnot

I have a few more DLC things planned down the road, not to spoil anything *cough*nodetransparency*cough* but for now it’s just limited to nodes-per-stickfigure.

Yes, stickfigures will be getting a max-node limit increase! That is, if you want it – and are willing to pay a small fee (aka DLC).

As you can see from the image above there are three tiers, different prices. Each tier offers a different max-node limit so you’re free to choose just how many more nodes you want.

I’m really excited about this and future DLC ideas I have! Hope you enjoy.

And yes, the April Fools prank this year is Ugandan Knuckles theme. Dead memes are best memes. Haha yeet! Cringe am I right haha rofl. #Dab
