Descended from pterosaurs with polycephaly namely Lonchodectes, with the first of the lineage Tricranis Primordialis these freaks of nature are split-necked individuals are ravens to eagle-sized pterosaurs. Their heads are mostly fused with only minor bifurcation of the skull or eyes and their necks are beginning to show early forked development, their bodies are light emphasizing efficiently for flight with long flexible cervical vertebrae. These small generalists managed to survive the KPG extinction that wiped out the non-avian dinosaurs allowing the group to survive until the modern day.
By the next evolution, Tricranis Bifurcatus selection has stabilized the bicranial condition, their sizes similar in size as a Pteranodon and their neck musculature has thickened at the base forming a tripod plate for stability and stocker bodies with a more pronounced sternum to anchor flight muscles while their wings remain long and efficient for soaring.
And finally the colossal apex dragon of the lineage, Tricranis Tempest. This isn't just a creature it's a living storm. A 3-headed predator that dominates both sky and land with unmatched power. Able to take down megafauna with it's three heads working in concert, the main head delivers premise lethal bites while the two secondary heads restrain prey and deliver stunning electrical discharges through highly conductive saliva these pterosaurs are most efficient hunters in humid climates or stormy conditions, it is also a versatile predator despite its terrifying abilities it is largely solitary only coming together briefly for reproduction. Tho Tricranis Tempest feels like a creature of lost ages it never truly vanished it's kinda endured quietly through the world's upheavals, surviving extinctions, drifting with storm fronts across changing continents and occasionally crossing paths with mankind. With it's sheer size, thunderous wing beats and electrical discharges lighting the clouds, it's no mystery why early civilisations saw Tricranis not as an animal but as something divine, as celestial guardians and sacred forces or sky devils, demons and heralds of divine wrath. In modern day they're a critically endangered species due to centuries of their young and occasionally adults being hunted by mankind along with a world less and less able to sustain such massive creatures have caused their numbers to dwindle substantially, being protected under international law and their habitats preserved through multinational conservation efforts. Despite their destructive potential they're not inherently malicious, they're predators and wanderers relics of an older world trying to survive a modern one.
Interestingly an unlikely encounter depicts a Tricranis Tempest facing off a Thermoradiosaurus and a Colossopithecus troop.
