Nightmare Fredbear is nothing but a illusion, along with the rest of the nightmares.

William Afton used the illusions to frighten his son, Michael, to keep him from going to the Fredbears family diner. William didn’t just do this to be d!ck, he did this to actually protect his son from suffering the same fate his daughter,Elizabeth, did. But, of course , Michael ends up a Fredbears family diner, and gets his head crushed in the jaws...of Fredbear.
