I can assure you Bowser is drunk. Why else would he set up a giant axe right next to the weak bridge he stands on while battling Mario every single time?

No, honestly I don’t know, I think he should use it himself, like when Mario comes in his castle, he breaks the bridge so Mario cant pass through and cannot save the princess. Then Bowser throw him fireballs.
