But why a 2 billion dollar plane when the much cheaper b-1 lancer and b-52 stratofortress can carry more munitions. The stealth factor when fighting a bunch of grunts with no access to radar (when that’s what stealth’s supposed to counter) and limited to no air defences? A F-16 or f-15e or a-10 can carry less ammo but are more accurate and cheaper to operate. Stealth when fighting an enemy without what stealth is made to counter is just an overly expensive and impractical decision
I’d rather choose something that is can strike fear into the Enemy than some oversized Gray Sausages (AKA the B-1 and B-52), I already made the A-10, the F-16 is old af and has a very ugly design, the F-15E is coming later
Ah yes becuase a flying boomarang will totally strike fear into insurgents. Also bombs falling on insurgents totally doesnt strike fear into them. The f-16 despite it’s age is still a cheap and reliable method of dropping a few 1000lbs bombs on an enemy since you won’t use the huge arsenal these strategic bombers can carry anyway since it’s overkill and too expensive. The b-2 was made to fight in all out war which the US is has not been fighting for quite a while now. Not saying it’s a bad plane but it’s a very expensive option to fight insurgents that can’t destroy it even without stealth and to carry huge payloads that are either not practical or are smaller than other bombers that are cheaper to use

To bomb a bunch of guys with no body armor and at the best case hiding inside of some poorly build house? There quite is my good sir, especially when we’re talking about hundred of thousands of tax payer dollars that could have gone to other things instead. Also there’s a huge risk of destroying surrounding and killin civvies when you drop 40k lbs of bombs on a relatively small target from a few km up
