The Ancient Chinese secret police and royal guard, the Emporer's closest chosen.
The Embroidered Uniform Guard would rat out traitors and the such and use all manner of brutal torture to get what they needed. Much like the Spanish Inquisition of Europe, the Guard were impervious to legal repercussions and thus would use ways of extracting information that would be considered too brutal otherwise.
The Embroidered Uniform Guard were not only terrifying spies but also skilled warriors, usually wielding the Jian, Miaodao or Changdao into combat.
