The Maschinenpistole 40 or MP40 for short, is a open-bolt, blowback-operated Submachine Gun chambered for the 9x19mm Parabellum cartridges.

It was designed in 1938 by Heinrich Vollmer in Nazi Germany, it was put into service in 1940 and issued to Squad Leaders, Platoons, Panzer crew man and more, until 1945 when Nazi Germany collapsed and the German Army as well.

It can be seen in conflicts after World War 2 and today.
