    Difficulties of Royalty

As mentioned previously, Max is the son of the Prince, who will soon take the role of king, as Max’s grandfather will soon give up his role to his son. By then, Max will be appointed Prince of all Grodot. However, this title, and the royal family itself, is something Maximus greatly despises. His cowardly family’s one and only goal is a good image, and will constantly throw Max around to do things for them, all in the name of their public image. On the outside, Max’s father and grandfather seem outgoing, kind, and bold. But in reality—like father like son—they are brutal, cold, and cruel beings.

One of the many things that Max has to deal with is his own personality. Everything he is, they want the opposite of. He is usually extroverted, bold, humorous and slightly reckless but he is generally a good person. His family hate this, hates him for it and try as hard as they can to warp him into their likings. Max, at home, acts quiet, composed, and only appears when he is asked. Even something as trivial as an opinion—even if it’s right—could get him an injury by his family. This happens often, because he gets into trouble relating to coins (he likes money, it’s shiny ok) and this puts their reputation down.

This is one of the reasons Max decided to pick up a weapon and fight. It was a great reason to keep distance from his responsibilities as royalty, and like most warriors, wanted to rise up, fight and go out with a bang. However, it seemed he had a hidden talent for this, as he’s still alive. Dang.

Anyway, his fighting style, taught by none other than his father, is meant to be for self defense, and doesn’t take much effort to learn or use. A joke, as he didn’t think Max could learn anything other than something that easy. Max knew this, and made it a goal to teach himself a more offense fighting style, weapon based. This is where Max’s two personas bleed into his fighting; his fighting is more calm and defensive, but when he gets into the heat of a battle, his reckless, dangerous and brutal attacks can easily turn the tide in a heartbeat. His sword, Daybreak, is actually the 7th version, as the others have shattered under the strain of being slamming on the flat side, thrown, and being swung again and again in rapid succession.

After all this, Max somehow manages to keep this inside and not let it show, allowing his natural outgoing and comical self to be what we see.
