And just like that another month has gone by. Since summer is ending and a good 90% of you are under 20 years old, I’d suppose that means most of you have started school again, huh? Just be sure to tell everyone you know about Stick Nodes!
As you can see from the image above, August was a great month for stickfigure submissions – and those are just a fraction of the submissions I received this past month! Go check out the stickfigures page and get some of these new stickfigures to use in your animations. Or, better yet, submit some of your own from within the app!
What’s New?
Okay, so I’ve been working on the 1.6.0 update of Stick Nodes for the past month now. I’ve posted about it before on the official Stick Nodes Facebook and Google+ pages, but I’ll fill you guys in on the details, too.
While I won’t go into all of the details until things get finalized, I can tell you some of the changes you can expect when 1.6.0 is released (hopefully soon):
- New behind-the-scenes method of saving projects/stickfigures to prevent out-of-memory crashes some users experience with large files.
- Exporting GIFs and MP4s is a smoother process and doesn’t lock-up your device.
- Open/Import list of projects/stickfigures is alphabetized for easier navigation.
- More tweaks, fixes, and additions that I’ll go into later…
So that’s all I’ll say for now until I’m close to having the entire update finished. After that, I can get back to work on the desktop version!

hey 2 things. 1 when i export my video to mp4 it looks like shit on my ipad, the video is grainy and weird looking. is there anything you could do about it? also in you opinion, when stick nodes desktop comes out will it be better than pivot? feature wise
Hey peppa. Which version of the app are you using? In 1.5.0 I made the export quality of MP4s much better.
Either way, can I see one of the video files? Upload to Youtube or even send it to me as an attachment ([email protected]) so I can have a closer look.
Oh, and as for Stick Nodes Desktop vs Pivot, I’m going to try to match Pivot in terms of features plus some (tweening, layers, and more that I don’t want to announce yet).
I won’t go as far as to say one will be better than the other, but Stick Nodes Desktop will certainly be different, hopefully in a good way.
It sounds like you’re nearly done with the update Ralph, I wonder what else might be packed into the new update that you’re not letting on about?
Seriously don’t know why I don’t just ban you.
What did I do?
Srsly, tell me, give details.
Be yourself.
Nah, nah, it’d have to be more than that… like it’s as if I just told people what to expect and now you’re upset or something 🙁
WordPress has plugins to ban through IP address right? Brb.
Yeah, they sure do, it won’t help you though.
Hahahahahaha I don’t think you guys know just how funny this is
SO YOU WANT SOME NOW?
do you have an estimate on it will come out for desktop
I’ve been busy with the Stick Nodes app for the past month, so regretably no progress has been made on the desktop version. Lots of work ahead to make sure it’s the best it can be, so if I had to guess I’d say early 2016.
I’m kinda new to this app, and I have it on my iPad. I just have one problem. I have no idea how to change the quality of my video on MP4!! Do you think you can make a tutorial or comment? I feel like I’m missing somthing obvious…
Hey, welcome to the app first of all.
Secondly, there’s really no quality control. The best you can do is up the resolution (the default is 640×360). This should make it look better, but it will increase the rendering time, you’ll just have to wait it out a bit longer.
Ok, thanks.
kewl, i cannot wait for the desktop version! hope you are able to work on it soon, keep up the good work.
