**History of the United States of Lorienna**
Long before independence, the land now called the United States of Lorienna was under the control of the Kingdom of Virelia, a powerful seafaring empire. Known then as The Virellic Territories of the West, the region was prized for its fertile farmland, rich forests, and strategic coastal harbors.
The territory was loosely divided into ten administrative provinces—Caldrin, Westmar, Florven, Highmere, Norwall, Brithwen, Avenridge, Solara, Dornath, and Crestwyn—each with its own culture and economy, but all subject to Virellic governors appointed by the crown. While trade flourished in the ports, strict imperial laws restricted local decision-making, and heavy taxes drained the provinces’ wealth to fund the distant capital.
By the early 19th century, resentment toward Virellic rule had reached a breaking point. Inspired by democratic movements abroad, provincial leaders began secretly meeting to discuss a united resistance. The Great Uprising of 1824 erupted after the crown imposed a new maritime tax on all exports, crippling coastal trade. Over six years of fierce fighting, the provinces’ militias—each flying their own banner—joined forces under a single flag.
Victory came with the Treaty of Marinthal in 1830, which recognized the independence of the newly named United States of Lorienna. The former provinces became the nation’s first ten states, bound together by a constitution that guaranteed representation, civil liberties, and shared governance.
Since then, Lorienna has grown into a vibrant democracy, with each state preserving its own traditions while contributing to the nation’s unity. The memory of those ten founding states’ solidarity remains a cornerstone of Loriennan identity, celebrated every year on Unity Day—the anniversary of the treaty.

**Breaking News – Viremont, Lorienna**
Late last night, a joint operation between the **Viremont Metro Police** and the **Loriennan Federal Investigation Bureau (LFIB)** resulted in the dramatic arrest of a wanted suspect in the city’s central district.
The suspect, identified as **Markus Veyran**, 34, had been on the LFIB’s national watch list for months in connection with multiple armed robberies and organized crime activity. Officials confirmed that Veyran was considered “armed and dangerous” and was wearing body armor at the time of his capture. He was also in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun.
The arrest unfolded shortly after 11:30 p.m. when **Corporal Daniel Krevick** of the Viremont Metro Police and **LFIB Special Agent Renara Doss** spotted Veyran exiting a derelict building on Rylmont Street. When approached, Veyran reportedly attempted to reach for his weapon but was swiftly disarmed and restrained.
Witnesses described a tense moment when both officers had their firearms drawn as they ordered Veyran to the ground. The suspect complied after a brief standoff, dropping his weapon before being taken into custody.
Authorities report that the operation had been planned for weeks following coordinated surveillance efforts. “This was a textbook example of inter-agency cooperation,” said LFIB spokesperson Ralen Vos. “Thanks to the quick action of Corporal Krevick and Agent Doss, a dangerous fugitive is now off the streets.”
Veyran is currently being held at Viremont Detention Center awaiting arraignment on multiple federal and municipal charges, including illegal possession of a firearm, resisting arrest, and armed robbery.

**Breaking News — Downtown Viremont, United States of Lorienna**
What began as a **routine patrol** in the capital’s downtown core turned into a tense **foot chase** this afternoon, ending with the suspect taken into custody without injury.
According to the **Viremont Metro Police Department**, two officers engaged in a pursuit after a man fled during a stop-and-question encounter near East Marlowe Avenue. Witnesses say the chase wound through the quiet side streets, with the suspect making it about two blocks before being intercepted by a VMPD sergeant.
“The sergeant came out of nowhere,” said Marla Devereux, a café owner whose shop faces the alley where the chase ended. “He just timed it perfectly and pushed the guy down before he could get past. It was fast—like something out of a movie.”
Once on the ground, the suspect was quickly secured by the officers. The sergeant kept his sidearm trained on the man while his partner approached to handcuff him. Police confirmed the individual was **not harmed** during the arrest.
Authorities have not yet released the man’s identity or the reason for the attempted flight but stated that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The Viremont Metro Police Department is asking anyone with video or photographs of the incident to share them with investigators to aid in their ongoing review.
