Heres something going on this month that doesn’t celebrate a transphobic country that continues to pass bills harming LGBTQ+ people, harming women, detains legal citizens for their skin colour and bans abortion even for teenage girls in ICE detention camps who are pregnant (they weren’t pregnant before they went there).

On another note, the Fourth of July is still a day that should be celebrated, that is with reflection as well. We should treat this holiday as a sort of reminder to think back to what this country is supposed to stand for. Our country is ridden with a long list of problems, including everyone you just mentioned. Rather than celebrating the same country as they make these issues, we should celebrate what it was meant to be, or really what we need it be. Everyone needs to join in on conversation, speak up, hold those in power accountable, and remind each other of what true freedom and unity is.
Learn, speak, take action, and celebrate the true purpose of this country, not what it has unfortunately become.
