there should be a kind of flat metal part where the pistol part is (its called a ricasso). pistol part looks noticeably better though

yeah but the lack of stabilizers means you need to horizontally stabilize the plane in another way which is a whole other engineering challenge

Well the war began in 1955 and these soldiers look asian (this is a cropped photo where the BAR guy kicks a half naked probably NVA or vietcong soldier) so I\’m fairly certain this is south vietnamese soldiers from the early stages of the war most likely before the US sent troops but sent equipment and advisers
