There is some truth to what he’s saying, maybe integrate chords like Tank said, and bring in some hihats for the beat. A good way to give off the vibe you want in this is to delay the snare and use multiple, in a jazzier style. A little variation and personality in the beat and notes can improve the whole aesthetic.
