Apparently, I wasn’t crazy. The images I made transparent via various websites were actually downloading with white backgrounds, apparently it’s a bug when you download transparent pngs from Google/Safari, the former of which has of course acknowledged the bug and done nothing about it. Fuck.

idk if related, but it’s always been the case if you copy an image with a transparent BG from a browser and paste into Photoshop (or other programs I assume) – the transparency is lost
for as long as time, i’ve had to download/save the image, then open it in photoshop
not sure if related tho just saying words
