Well today has been a horrible day, and I am not feeling too good about life anymore. I used to be the smartest person I knew, I was idolized by my classmates, and now I’m an idiot. I’m fairly certain I’m gonna fail this year, most of my teachers don’t care to help me, the few times I’ve built up the courage to ask they’ve just said ā€œpay attention in classā€, and my parents just tell me that I can do it or that I need to apply myself. But I am trying. And honestly, I don’t think I can do it. But that’s not really important, is it? Here’s a bird, for your viewing pleasure.

    • somewhat relateable story

i always got straight As and shit through elementary school (fuckin nolife nerd) but come high school it started faltering and even through college is was basically where C’s and B’s were the average

i attribute it to two things

      1) i never really studied much if at all, i was able to get by like this fine in elementary school and some of high school but then shit started getting more serious and i never developed the skills or discipline to actually like, study – like open a book, read, take notes, read the notes, memorize, etc – but when i did it helped

      2) i started becoming more and more interested in my hobbies of animation and programming, and would dedicate more time to those than schoolwork

while (2) ended up being the right choice for me (lolol), (1) could be remedied by simply adopting a routine/schedule and sticking with it, where every night from Xpm to Xpm it’s study time, even if there’s no test coming or something, you just fucking study and re-write your notes from the day, which will help you passively absorb shit you normally wouldn’t remember

it could be tough, depending on your current routine and level of discipline, but it’s the only way to “get smarter” aka better grades, if that’s what you’re after

I already own Stick Nodes Pro, I’ve had it for a very long time. I shall attempt to use your advice, and hopefully I can dig my way out of this never ending spiral of self pity and lackluster performance. I appreciate your help.

Huh, I never study and always are doing hobbies like animating and getting into programming.

        Are you future me?

I hope not, I don’t wanna to turn out to be a pedo, or to have facial hair.

Why would putting lemon in a lemon’s eye do literally anything to it? You’re a fool Manny.

Same way peeing in someone’s eye would do something.

    • I’ve been there, best I can say is:

Don’t ever beat yourself up for not being the best, beat yourself up for not trying at all (not saying you’re not trying, just making a point)

    • You are not an idiot if you get low grades in school. I’d actually argue that lower grades can easily open up the opportunity for independent critical thinking, in a way it can make you more intelligent than those who have high grades.

So if someone is shaming you about your grades, I personally think they’re misguided and may need to get a grip.

But that’s just my view on it.

    • Those teachers are scum bags, helping kids should be the priority.
I hope they suffer in the future.

But seriously, I wish I had advice, but I don’t have much do my my lack of age and wisdom.

Maybe try finding any online resources to go over every time you learn a new topic or find any on the current topic?

Maybe a new perspective would help reinforce that you’ve already learned, and since it’s online, you can always review over it more than once to try to grasp the concepts you are stuck on.

Terrible advice, I know, but don’t beat yourself over this, as you tried your best, and I hope this gets worked out.

      Also nice drawing

    • I am suffering from low grades as well and my teacher ain’t helping me even though I am now asking for help, the bastard doesn’t read the emails asking for help I gave him

I’ve always tried to resolve the issue by myself using whatever resources I had but now I have to ask for help and even then, those requests fall on deaf ears and the people who “could help” like maybe my brother definitely wouldn’t understand coordinate planes or chemistry

It eventually lead to a point where I’ve lost the ability to even care, I just do it anyways just so my mom doesn’t scream louder then twenty rocket ships launching in unison right 20 centimeters in front of you about the fact that my dumbass didn’t understand algebra and got kicked out for it

As pretty much everyone else said, do not throw yourself on the floor just because you were trying to understand already needlessly complicated subjects but nobody gave enough fucks in the ass to address your pleads for help

    • Trying to find the right thing to say here.. If there’s anything to learn about teachers it’s that they too are people and will respond the same.

There ways of ā€˜just email me’ or ā€˜contact me via this app’ is usually a nice little way to make things seem all preen and official but truth be told they have lives to live and chances are they aren’t reading that anytime soon, if you want to have something and it requires another’s help or assistance make it known to them.

Ask in person and make it abundantly clear how you’re feeling and what you feel you need to acquire the means to improve. They hold the tools to help you and if they do not then clearly they do not care, if that happens then it’s in your hands to be the one responsible, take notes on a range of things you study, title things, put them in a way that means you can know them clearly and easily.

Understanding what you need truly compared to what they say you need is very tricky but once you know you have so much less to worry for.
