For this post,do not take what I say as commandment because I for one am an average being and not a professional. There are likely others who have far more experience in these kinds of situations than I do.Read this post/rant with that in mind.
I’ve seen a comment talking about vigilantism. It’s basically doing what a mod does without proper authority. Generally, I call this “peacekeeping”.
Literally means “keeping the peace”.But I want to point out how to to do this exact action properly. Because generally, some people tend to confuse “handling the situation” with actually handling the situation. This tends to include side choosing, wrongful misjudgement, etcetera, etcetera.Peacekeeping is one simple step. The simple step is:
Calm.The Situation.Down
It’s as simple as that,do everything in your power to make sure everyone listens to you. Attract the situation to you. And after that, wait for assistance from mods or Ralph himself.
It’s a selfless act and would probably make the situation worse but it’s 50/50 chance than joining the argument.
It’s what I would do if an argument decided to pop out.
calming the situation down =/= vigilantism though, but I get your point
Oh,sorry,I kind of mixed the two terms when they are clearly different. But I kind of grouped “peacekeeping” and “vigilantism” in the same boat because it’s often misinterpreted.
Yeah if you want an example of vigilante I’m practically front page of this website
I’ll believe it when I see it.
