Many users who repeatedly send friend requests likely don’t realize they’re adding the same person over and over. They just spot a big green “add friend” button and click it, thinking it will somehow magically bring them real friends. (or they do it for the throphy)

Instead of accepting or rejecting the request, leave it in “pending.” The user will only see the request sitting in an unappealing, muted ornage color, which is definitely less attractive.

I personally just accept all friend requests cuz it means nothing anyways. Saves me the headache of getting spammed.
