Yes, graphics and gameplay DO matter.
I don’t care how unique or well written the game is, if the graphics are simply not pleasant to look at then it fucking sucks.
If both RDR games had the playability of the oregon trail for the PS4, i’d fucking hate it. Same as with most indie games nowadays.
Ultrakill? Fine, i guess, but that’s because the game was designed to be a low-poly shooter, but with how everyone is trying to re-invent the wheel and have highly stylized graphics and try to have deep and complex messages in a game about cooking sushi? Indie gaming simply sucks balls.
Gameplay is valid but as long as it doesnt look like an atari game and I can name what Im looking at I dont see the problem

i feel like “looks bad/looks good” and “low fidelity/high fidelity” are two separate scales. like a game can have low quality textures but still look good. likewise it can have high quality textures and still look ass
Exclusives are one of the worst things to come out of the industry and im glad xbox and sony were making their games available on more systems and also sad theyre not doing that anymore
