One person had a VERY hot take, in which they said that “Realistic graphics has KILLED the horror game genre.” In my opinion they’re VERY wrong about that but who knows maybe i’m crazy, and if you want to you can give your opinion about this. (Also posted on both groups in one day, im goated fr.)

Like yea gore and all that stuff is scary and disturbing but relying on just “oooh it looks so real” can be ass
You can still make extremely disturbing media without relying on just life like graphics
For me, what really matters isn’t the graphics (of course it still have to look a little bit real, i don’t think anyone could be scared by a 9 pixel gameboy sprite)
What matters the most for me is the ambiance and the sound design, subtle foreshadowing, litemotives is what really add spice to the spookiness
Try to play any horror game without sound and with lights on: except for some jumpscares, you’re probably not be scared
