the “old method” is called that because it was the original method to export MP4s in SN
it was a lot slower and would sometimes result in some really bad artifacting in the videos (I still see it today so I see some people still use this method)
its done purely by the CPU so it’s very slow
when I added the “new” method, it wasn’t compatible with all Android versions because it uses built-in Android classes/GPU to render, which were only available on (I forget but like Android 5+ or something)
so I left the “old” method for those people that couldn’t export with the new method
today, honestly everyone should have a “new enough” Android device where that’s not an issue, but I still leave the “old” method because exporting still is problematic for some users (random crashing) for a plethora of bullshit reasons all having to do with how Android devices have absolutely no care for trying to respect any sort of uniform underlying “rules” when it comes to their hardware and GPU and rendering, etc – Samsung devices suck especially
i give apple credit in that department, but its easy to have all of your devices behave similarly if they’re all literally made by 1 company vs Android where its a free for all
Replying to:Ralph (Developer)the "old method" is called that because it was the origina
wow I thought old method had some extra color corrections and thats why it was slower, I exported the whole JFA first episode with that
longest 2 days of my life
