okay soo
i got back from my moms (saturday-sunday aka today) and i cleaned my grandmas room and
i wanted to talk about getting paid for doing chores weekly
and
it caused an argument between my grandpa and my mom
my grandpa thought it would be 25 cents per day
and my mom thought it would be 20 dollars per month
and my grandpa is old, like 89 or something and my mom is 45
my MOM got paid for CLEANING HER ROOM AND I DONT EVEN HAVE A ROOM
BUT I STILL CLEANED A ROOM??
so idk
ive never gotten paid for shit
ever
at all
ive tried to talk about it before but it always ended in an argument
anyways
tl;dr: my grandpa and mom argued over how much i should have for an allowance per month
kinda sucks
Replying to:SillyWizard01im bad at explaining so please do tell me if theres anything
oh yeah also i tried venting to my friend and he said “sometimes people dont wanna hear you vent” so now i feel like a nuisance and i feel even worse venting i

Tbh I don’t get why some people get paid for chores personally since it’s kinda like a household duty since majority of the time the rent and bills are being paid by somebody else.
Replying to:DownwardghostlyTbh I don’t get why some people get paid for chores personal
that is exactly what my grandpa said and i dont get it
i think that theres a difference
therse chores (like cleaning, sweeping and mopping, stuff like that, taking out the trahs once or twice per week) and then theres things you do to be nice and help out (help take groceries in, stuff like that)

Ironically I’m currently at my dads
If you ask me I wouldn’t complain about not getting paid for chores
allowance should be allowed y’know, but not for tiny things like cleaning
I do the dishes, take the dog out, feed the chickens and occasionally water the garden
I don’t get paid. Do I wanna? Kinda, but if you ask me you should only be paid if you know how to do it well.
You probably did it well, but one thing is that if she got paid and you aren’t, that’s not exactly fair. So make your point, but be nice about it. Have some finesse with your words, persuasion is tough with adults, so find a middle ground and make a deal. Take what you get, wether it’s 25 cents or dollars, and keep doing good work
But also downward is correct, it is a household duty
Anndd if an argument seems to start just end the conversation but I dunno man

unless you’re really young or something, apply for a job. my first job was 15
if you really think you should be paid for things and there are things you need money for in your day-to-day life, make a resume and try to apply for something, maybe get a recommendation from an adult friend
something small, like cashier or camp counselor or some shit
allowance is alright, but pick your battles. if the issue is that you’ve never been paid for hard work, look for a way to get paid. up to you ig.

Shit just realized that it was the grandpa who was gonna pay you so let me rewrite my previous statements that I just deleted
I believe that the grandpa, if he was the one who hired you, should pay you more than 25 cents a day, since 7 dollars a month doesn’t go very far, especially.
Replying to:MannyAnimsShit just realized that it was the grandpa who was gonna pay
especially for like
getting myself something to drink
not only would it make me have to ask him to buy me more things but would limit me being able to buy my own things
would still be his money technically but
i mean, id be buying it and walking down there so idk

Funnily enough I’m at my oldest brother’s place
I’ve been paid for doing chores a few months ago though that eventually stopped but I have never been the money hungry guy of the bunch, I don’t even really care for It at all but I’ll admit that $7 is a penny compared to $240 a year
So basically: I think your mother is right to give you 20 a month since that money when IT IS SAVED can actually prove useful eventually for at least buying yourself some time with rent or getting stuff for others but then again, I would only give 20 a month if I were in the financial position to do that
do tell

and she waws around my age
my point basically is that
my mom got paid for chores when she was my age, and im not
