Now I like DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal but the dark ages is where it gets way too much for me

Too much lore, too many weapons and designs (big talk from an Ultrakill fan) and now the gore is even gorier – Which is not the biggest problem but its just alot rlly. Plus the story too. I don’t dislike it, It’s just not the top things on my list of things to play later.

i kind of get the gore, stories arent for everyone but
afaik the lore codex are optional (to read, i mean)
id consider eternal having too much lore given that it literally features the ICON OF SIN, which is a recurring character since the early doom games and 2016 is the fresh reboot so that would have even more lore
the dark ages is a prequel so id say that its its own thing that builds on the existing lore that you wouldnt necvessarilly need to read unlike 2016 and eternal
