Rotten stuff, well… anything in general has actually a texture and stuff. Rotten stuff should have old dead skin, torn edges, has blueish colour on some spots, holes?
So with that in mind we have to assume a segment is a clean and fresh portion of the body… Meaning if the limb is rotting away it should be sligthly thinner than the rest as it is naturally inside, under the skin and stuff.
So like… Put some imagnary bone on it, some muscle with it too, then apply all that skin bits and rot.

ps reference pictures help but you need to be expecting what to see when googling. Googling “rotten meat” is probably better than “rotting leg” etc.
