Finished.
I am starting to despise working at a deli. 1$ of extra pay isn’t worth having to deal with middle aged women from new york who use slang for the sandwiches they want. And the old guys who can’t speak above a whisper. Someone did order a single slice of white bread and was surprised and kinda pissed when it costed a whole dollar, so that’s funny.
We get free coffee at least.

Welcome to entry-level work
No matter if you leave your job and find another, 9 times out of 10 it’s going to be pretty draining. Stick to it, deliver whatever you can to the job and hopefully you can find some satisfaction or reasoning for keeping it going.
Good luck and all the best
Thanks man. I totally get that entry-level work usually sucks, but the deli is definitely a master of it.
Really hoping I can get myself switched to do stocking full time, going to give the deli another week or two to see if it improves. I’m much more tuned to stocking stuff and keeping everything tidy, especially during the closing shift. It’s kinda enjoyable. The manager is very understanding, and I did tell him that I’m not confident with deli work, so I’ll see if he’ll be willing to get me on more stocking.
And hey, it’s not all Too bad, it’s a very small local-grocery store so we’re not slammed like huge establishments. Except around this time of year. God damn leaf peepers…
