I feel like you should change the name since people could get Novap and Nova confused, you did say she was a sea person (smth like that) so why not name her Pearl or Seaweed?

Nova was your typical sea lurker, lurkin around the sea for food!
But then when the mirage struck,Her life was TERRIBLE.
MOST of her family was infected by mirage infested fish (thats there food) and the few who survived got slimed out.
She was hopeless and then she found an outpost (or Whatever its called) and stayed there.
She is a pretty good chef and she organises food for the other survivors, she thinks theres still hope and one day mirage will be defeated.
