Most people dont realize the bel air was actually a muscle car

When you think of the bel air, you think swooping tail fins, chrome-clad steel, mushy seats, not so much in 1969. The bel air actually (after the 50s) followed in the footsteps of the impala and caprice. Meaning after 1956, the impala, bel air, caprice, and Biscayne shared the same fascia, chassis, and for the most part, body panals (though the bel air did have a taller roof then the impala, which was lower and more aggressive).
