Um, here are a few ideas.
1.) Aliens arrive on Earth, and attempt then succeed at making peace with Earth. They colonize a small island as an experiment. You and your friends are a little sceptical, and your suspicions are revealed to be true when the aliens unleash a giant monster that might be a threat to humanity itself. You and your friends must now stop the aliens, and save the Earth.
2.) After a mysterious apocalyptic event wipes out most of humanity, you and other survivors must band together to make sure you live and also restore Earth.

Idea #3: You and your friends are selected to be the lab rats for a time travel experiment. Your transported to a dystopian future where a evil organization and its ruler run the Earth. You now have to make it out alive, but in one piece isn’t guaranteed…

1: Technology’s gone too far. You can link your mind to the internet. The protagonist realizes that peoples’ consciousness may be able to get hacked. Before he could unlink his mind from the internet, he gets hacked. He blacks out, and in his mind, he’s fighting against the hacker for consciousness. If he loses, he’s done for.
