Did you know? I HAVE BEEN AT WORK FOR 10 GRUELING HOURS!!! Anyways, for the fun pufferfish fact…
There are over (or exactly) 120 different species of pufferfish around the world! That’s more pufferfish than you could possibly fathom!..unless you could fathom 120.
Wanna know my FAVORITE species of pufferfish? Idk! Probably the dwarf pufferfish. Have you seen them? Yeah, they’re native to the freshwater in the Western Ghats of Southwest India…BUT HAVE YOU SEEN THEM??? Here’s a picture!

Did you know? People EAT pufferfish! Why would you do that? They’re poisonous!..and cute.
Well, it’s because OF that risk. While it is most of the time always made by an experienced chef who can remove the poison, the risk is always there. You’re always taking a risk, and it makes it that much more exciting. Is pufferfish really that tasty? I wouldn’t know, I only had some when I was a baby just growing in my teeth! My poor pufferfish siblings…
Anyways, here’s a fitting image.

Did you know? Baby pufferfish are so adoooorable! Awwwwwwww!
They’re cannibals.
They’re cold-blooded cannibals who eat their own brothers and sisters.Baby pufferfish, once they have first grown their teeth, will start GNAWING on their siblings who haven’t grown their own teeth yet. They will bite chunks out of them like they’re some good steak. Yummy!

Did you know? Pufferfish puff up as a defense mechanism!
Ok, everybody knows that, but puffing up doesn’t come without its consequences. When a pufferfish puffs, it completely loses its ability to swim and stays that way until they get rid of the excess water in their stomach. If they happen to get lifted up out of the water or drift onto land, they’re a goner. Puffedfish.

Did you know? Pufferfish are the ONLY bony fish in the sea that can close their eyes. Although, they do it in a weird circular fashion towards the center of their eye unlike normal blinking. They do this by sucking their eyeballs into their head and then making the skin around their eyes pucker together!
PUFFERFISH!!!!!!!!
(I forgot to add an image before posting this so just pretend a blinking pufferfish is here)

Did you know? Pufferfish don’t have traditional teeth like some other fish or like us mammals! They have beak-like “teeth” instead of sharp, individual teeth. They can even REGROW their teeth, unlike the pufferfish in my PFP.
They have teeth like this because they mainly eat things with hard shells, and this teeth structure is meant for them to wear their teeth down so that they can regrow over time. If they were not worn down regularly, they could overgrow and cause problems for the pufferfish! This style of teeth also lets them crack open hard shells easier so they can get themselves a delicious snack.
PUFFERFISH TEETH!!!!!!!
