Hmm.

First off that’s not how you use a sword. You might wanna look at sword references.

The whole don’t tween this frame style could work, but you shouldn’t use it for every fast movement, try to reserve it for when the sword hits or when there’s a huge movement.

Keyframes help me personally when it comes to animating. You just need a few basic ones, the stance, the anticipation, the slash, the recovery, and the stance again. Animation takes time and one of the faults I and many others have is a lack of dedication. You start animating and it doesn’t look good so you restart, but that’s not a good way going about it most of the time.

Play the animation and look for the part that bothers you, Then fix it. Most of my better looking animations come from sticking with them. Lower FPS are good for beginners because there’s less frames to correct most of the time.

You might wanna use a slash effect rather than the dash effect for sword slices. The basic swish should do the trick. I haven’t fully mastered effects, but effective use of them can help mask a couple mistakes.
