I’m currently working on a modification for the cicoya. I’m planning on it being modified to a 4-4-4-4-4-4 locomotive, effectively making it a quadruplex locomotive. currently the base design is a mallet type but I’m planning on making the quadruplex design not have any compounding. of course it will still be articulated but all the cylinders will be the same size. however due to the fact that all of the cylinders will run on the same pressure they won’t have nearly the level of depression as it would normally. this can create deafening sounds as massive amounts of pressure enters into all the cylinders. due to the amount of cylinders(3 per driver set, 4 sets of drivers), this can create sounds similar to a petrol engine with the same sound level as a rock concert. the biggest problem with the base cicoya was actually derailment. it was so heavy and so fast that she would just fly off the tracks. making her into a quadruplex had the intention of making her more controllable during super-elevation. lots of things to figure out but I hope things will work out.
