I just had the creepiest nightmare, it starts off as just pure black… then I woke up in the middle of the night, but something was wrong… there was a creepy doll/puppet right in front of my door, I gasped and scram for help but all that came out was a weak “hhhhhhhhhh”, I scram for help again… but it was worthless, it slowly looked at me and then I woke up, it was early in the morning and my heart was beating faster than the speed of light… it was my first nightmare in years, but anyways who wants to join my collab?

What you were experiencing was sleep paralysis.
There’s a part of your brain that goes rampant when you’re asleep, we’ll call it the dream center.
As you might already know, your body shuts down when in deep sleep.
Sleep paralysis happens when you enter a half awake state.
Your body is shutdown and you begin to freak out, so your dream center tries to rationalize this fear usually by putting a dark figure in your bedroom.
You can still move some of your body parts whilst in sleep paralysis (you can dwindle your fingers, squint your eyes, or move around your jaw) Move then around enough and your body will wake up and everything will be normal.
I’ve experienced it before too. I woke up in the middle of the night and a pair of white eyes were watching me. And suddenly I felt like I was being dragged, so I moved my fingers into a finger gun and it went away. I woke up in panic, but still managed to get a good nights sleep.
