Something with polyfills I’m sure but my brain isn’t up for thinking about it right now, you’re the boot / shoe guy so I figured I’d ask you if you’re cool with giving some tips.

Sure, usually I never make these kinds of shoes tho
However, if you want some sort of sneaker with a tounge and stuff, you could try doing something like this (sorry shoe looks bad cuz I rushed for example):

Basically, the foot should be made first, then making the shoe on top, so the foot connects, and its not just the shoe (In your case the foot should be grey to match the sock).
