2023-05-06 22:19:47 UTC Seeing the frequent new user random posts is slowly draining my desire to be here.
It’s not necessarily a personal hate or anything, it’s just I can’t relate at all and the posts seem really low effort. Nothing really to be done but looking back at other known users earlier days, things seemed to have gone better I think or at least you knew they tried even if it was kind of mid or trash.
I think more of the newer users now just don’t care about actually using Stick Nodes and the site for it’s purpose, it’s just a social platform for them to spread and play with their shit in front of us.

But these new users are very, very annoying in terms of what they post. It’s not the influx of new users in itself that bothers me, but rather that all of them must be like, 5 years old based on how they are acting

It has always been like this. It’s not their fault you don’t ‘relate’ to the literal children of the site cause you guys aren’t children anymore. It has always been kids trying to spread their creativity and animation, and even still it is that but it’s different cause we’re still here, all the kids on the site look up to us, they are premature and are trying desperately to fit in. They probably think posting random dumb stuff is what makes them seem ‘cool’ and then when we make fun of them when they make a, granted, sub par animation or creation or idea they refuse to try to make anything of creativity or even try to do anything the likes of what they have just made. It’s not motivating for then it’s stunting.
What I’m trying to say is if you want people to post more creativity and fun stuff,
Promote it, encourage it, motivate it.
It obviously won’t stop the spam and influx of idiot children but atleast bring in a lot more eager to animate kids.
Then we can all lead them down an amazing animation career where than can be tortured by higher ups for 2 shillings 🎉🎉🎊🥳
I understand where you’re coming from but the next stage in any of that positive reinforcement is what they do with it, as the first mod, i’ve done what I can both for that role and just because that’s how I am and in some cases it works, some not.
I’m not saying I’m expecting them to be relatable, my time, our time has passed. I’m referring to their desire, the next stage after the help, the ‘motivation’.
Many from what I’ve seen have none and use this place for random means of social approval in a place with no correlation to what they do.
We look at newer users / younger users like Manny, Kingston, Collision, all fairly young and have made some great results but it’s moreso the ones now don’t hold such a desire, it’s just unbridled nonsense with lack of regard for what they’re doing or where they could be going. It isn’t anything important in the grand scheme of things anyway but for the worth of us being here and enjoying what time we have I’m just saying I expected more.
I agree with this, I don’t think the problem is moreso the “new users” but rather just a specific minority of them that got really annoying
I think most people here forgot that the reason the environment here is so “toxic” is because of how much the “older” users tend to gatekeep or just straight up bully the new users to begin with, causing them to get weird behavior to try and fit in
Thankfully it lessened with gigan got his stuff together, but unfortunately the damage has already been done
This place is kinda in a weird spot where it’s not welcoming for newbies despite being the “official” community of the app, however because it’s still official, the newbies still tend to go here anyway, making most posts have minimal substance, so the actual good people don’t bother going here either
And the newbies that do end up here end up becoming stupid because they want to fit in, and it essentially is just an endless cycle

Gigan wasn’t so much the main catalyst for the desire of approval and fear of being looked down upon, it’s predated before even the site as any younger individual seeks that confirmation, the approval of their existence as it were. Not necessarily from others but from themselves which in part comes from others.
I understand though you already recognise this so for now hope something good happens for the next generation of users.

This site does have it bad for that kind of validation though, “fitting in” isnt the problem, but moreso the kind of behavior they need to mimic to actually try and fit in, which is very problematic imo since it just reeks of being discouraging and argumentative against new users due to some superiority complex or something

To be very truthful, I don’t or didn’t mind most of them. I was simply under the idea that they’d eventually move on from the “To be like [Insert Inspiration], I must dress like [Insert Inspiration]” mentality and be their own thing. Never really thought they could be very bad especially since many users were probably the same way but cringed really hard at what they were. On that topic, I feel that older users need to really stop engaging the newbies unless they’re genuinely problematic and even then, I’d want the mods to make quick work out of those more problematic new guys
TL;DR of sorts: I don’t really hate all of the new users, I think the problem lies more or less on the older ones being a little too harsh on them from time to time
