    Unpopular opinion:

The more detail added to a stickfig makes it worse imo, the simpler the stick figure the better but then I guess it also depends on the goal of the animation

    • If you know your style then even if you use a lot of nodes, loose some detailing potential etc it really isn’t that important.

With the possibility of exporting your animation, saving and exporting multiple projects and then putting them together for a video it just secures this idea even more.

    • i personally feel that for animations to look aesthetically pleasing you kinda have to make sure that a “style” remains consistent so it wont look all cluttered, details makes that a lot harder to come by unfortunately

you can kinda see it in the worse christmas collab last year that i dont consider official because it sucks ass as a collab with how detailed the asset figures are compared to the actual quality of the actual entries, with the figures being really good but with the entries having ehhh designs and animation or just being plain bad overall

details are nice yeah but i dont think you should combine like 5 different styles all with varying levels of detail, because that’ll make your animation look like shit like this

its also probably why more people prefer making simpler oc designs, as seen with the splash screen entries when you compare how good and dynamic the art looks for simpler oc designs compared to more detailed “rigs” which just look really dull overall

you’ll find out when the splash screen results are out

I feel this example is kind of iffy. The problem with the splash screen would not be the detail, but the fact that one uses a figure while the other is stick art. It’s perfectly feasible to create stick art of a detailed character. I could too if you’d like.

There are very obviously quite a few exceptions like yours but I’m mostly talking about stuff like the 9999999 different soldier figs with detailed guns that genuinely look like the most boring shit imaginable (there are exceptions to these as well, but a lot of them just look really generic and dull compared to how dynamic some stick arts are)

It’s mostly just my preference too as an “artist” where something made from scratch like a drawing is something I find more interesting than a figure made with SN, but it’s mostly just a preference thing honestly

I like creativity, not something traced off some army guy irl or from halo

    • Doesn’t need little details to look good

Tom and Jerry, almost 70 freaking years old, looks like a renaissance masterpiece ( in comparison to modern day cartoon… Seriously why do they look so darn ugly ? This is why kids prefer anime nowadays smh smh )

    • I honestly have gotten these types of comments a lot

While yea , it make look cluttered af , messy , be too much for not only the animation but also the variation of quality , etc , being bad for animation

I make my characters the way they are because that’s what I legitimately imagine them to be as

There’s definite problems with em but in the end , this is really how I want them

Whether that’s just current compliance , being blind due to some sort of “I made em” reasoning , or whatever , I’m happy with how my characters have turned out

    • Yeah, like for example you can’t put the Mona Lisa next to a child drawing with a crayon. There’s no consistency
