The back slope of the helmet looks spot on but the whole front looks exactly like the teishin helmet, maybe change it to look spot on and then have the old version later turning it into the teishin variant? You would make 2 out of 1 then

the lower jaw and the visor and the top of the head, basically the whole front looks like the teishin helmet, just change the front mask part over the mouth and maybe it will look less like it
