Unfortunately, I did not find as much redeeming animation/story qualities in this animation as the views would lead one to believe. There is promise for sure, but currently, for episode 0, that promise is not being delivered.
The animation itself is fast and to the point (for the fights), but is often re-used consistently. It provides a boring fight experience that is constantly interrupted by dialogue. Characters themselves, save for The Ram and The Machine, are bland and look alike. This is the detail equivalent of “stick figures looking like recolors,” because these characters are exactly recolors. The pacing is over the place too. The workout scene doesn’t serve much to strengthen the plot or the animation, and it slows down the animation significantly to the point of boredom. There are plenty of ways to make iconic training montages/scenes, but this feels more like padding for the 10-minute mark.
This has always been a consistent problem with these sorts of stories, but the text. It’s always the dialogue and text that people just don’t get right. Spell correctly, add grammar, make good dialogue! That is the basis of conveying character thoughts, which is important to show their personalities. There doesn’t feel like much of a personality within this animation in the slightest.
The detail for the fighters themselves with arm reach and weight is commendable, but it doesn’t serve to improve what is already here.
I know more can come out of this series, but this episode isn’t a good start.
A low 2/5.

KaijynnJust your friendly local cryptid. I'll eat your bones.
Honestly, this is a kind of disappointing first episode. Visually, it isn’t anything special. The training and dialogue scenes lack anything that makes them entertaining. Hell, even the fight scenes (which are supposed to be the main part of the series) are pretty bland, and their flow is broken by the constant dialogue.
The plot is just as bland as the visuals, honestly. It just boils down to “A really good boxer maintaining his title.” Nothing special, exciting, or particularly original. Humor isn’t present, either.
I’m a little dissapointed considering the amount of praise this series recieves. Animation is pretty solid, but it doesn’t flow and half of the animations are completely reused 7 times over, especially in the training scene. The training scene for how long it lasted didn’t add anything to plot like Toxic said. Characters are different, but when they hold the same pose and are in sync the whole time along with the fact that they look like they are all the same in size, really pulls away from the visuals. Not to mention the use of backgrounds and the consistant style work well but the lack of detail and the mess ups in certain parts drag it down. Like whos height is measured in kilograms? There’s no presense of humor, but that’s completely fine. But there is a story like every series should have, but the story is flawed. The main character who is “The Machine” is certainly a different character from the rest cause he’s as flat as a cardboard cutout. He doesn’t show emotion, weakness, self control. He’s a Mary Sue but without any personality. This pilot episode doesn’t show much at all. It shows that this character is undefeatable and doesn’t show any hint to what’s coming in order to drag the viewer in. There’s far too much recycling and snapping of animations to make up for the lack of hooks. This doesn’t serve well as a pilot to a big series and does not show anything other than an average animation.
