Humor is inapplicable to this animation, so I will not critique it. (This is a more serious-based series).

There are certainly improvements from Episode 0, but “Champion” still falls short.

The obnoxious padding for watch time training sequences return and provide nothing really for the animation as a whole. Once again, training sequences can be incredible if pulled off correctly. One of the most iconic scenes in all of “Rocky” is in fact the training montage. But this is just lazy.

The animation recycling also returns and doesn’t provide anything useful. Fight scenes could be much more intense if Kaido and The Machine were doing anything new. They do occasionally change up the fight, but it is not made in a way that makes the fight feel intense. There is no suspense for it, you already know that The Machine is going to destroy this guy. The bad pacing also returns, and dialogue dumps plague the episode. There isn’t much going for the episode in terms of music, too. Music can surely heighten a fight scene, and the selected music was not doing much to make it seem intense. I will give credit that Mici is attempting to stylize the characters and give them more of a personality. Though it still isn’t enough needed to make these characters and their personalities memorable, it still is good to improve upon that aspect.

In general, this still remains at the same standing of before but slightly improved. There still is potential, but not an active motion to use it save for the small upgrades in some personality.

2/5.

From episode one, theres quite a few improvements and found this pretty entertaining. Only problem is theres reoccuring problems from episode one like recycled animations, really odd pacing, no use of sound aside from music and almost always a gramatical error in dialogue. Visually in backgrounds, it still sometimes get really lazy. Like the random black background used when the Machine began dodging. Theres also less of that Mary Sue sort of character as the machine began taking hits here. Theres also the tease of another fighter. If pulled off right, he isn’t just another ego filled fighter and is actually a challenge that will cause the machine to develop as a character. Visually it’s pretty decent though. Animation quality is better in this ome and you actually have me a little impressed. Great work on this one. That improvement is very good to see from the pilot episode. You just have to keep improving on on it like tpyou did here to reach that farther above average rating.
