Toxic911 Animations“S e r i e s R e v i e w”

Humor is inapplicable to this animation, so I won’t critique it.

This is the 3rd episode of Mici’s series “Champion” and it actually is a downgrade from the previous. While the detail of figures and overall fighting movements have gone up in quality, this animation suffers even more from pacing problems and lack of character development and personality. The Machine’s only real defining “personal trait” is that he talks and thinks robotically, but this clearly could be pulled off better. Saying “probability matrix” doesn’t mean one is being a robot. The animation reusing also returns, and it doesn’t do much to help the fight itself. The very climactic end of the fight is so horridly paced that it is tiresome even to watch. The entire sequence of The Machine taking a Deep Impact and then delivering one back to his opponent would take 6 seconds at the most in real-time, but it’s so stretched out in this animation that it is just badly done. Instead of really improving the qualities of the series that really needed fixing (personality, dialogue, fight sequences, pacing), Mici focused on movement and figure detail. While it may look pretty, it still isn’t good, and I can’t recommend watching this. The second episode was honestly better.

1/5.

This was the improvement this series needed. This episode felt impactful and showed up with a purpose. The Machine appears as a Mary Sue in previous episodes, but that is broken a hit here. Too many characters blend in though. There’s a big problem with conveying personality aside from a few characters like Vladmir and the machine. There’s a lot of characters that go to the base idea of being arrogant which should be expanded way beyond. And for the Machines development, emotion should play a part. A main character without development often leads to a bland story. In terms of animation, theres still recycling which pulls attention away mid fight. Theres also odd posing with this new base and really rough animation. But then theres good animation in a few areas. Overall, it has work to do in animation and this could use way less dialogue in between punches which screws with the pacing.
Visually, the base is pretty well done as well as well used with what appears to be use of smart stretch in areas. Unfortunatly there are loads of visual bugs that come with this new base. This isn’t even mentioning the round head among the entire realistic body. There is also recycling of backgrounds and some odd scenarios with characters like a pissed off or sinister looking doctor who looks like he is going to kill the Machine. Though this improvement is large, there’s big problems here that must be addressed for this to get a better rating.
Low 3/5
