This is the first episode of the series “JackFly Adventure”, focusing on the origins of the character Jackfly. Right off the bat, the highlight of this series is the unique design and style of the characters present. The figures themselves look cartoonish and are visually appealing. Overall, the animation aspects are pretty solid. The effect of one of the civilians turning into that black muck was well-done. There certainly could be some added details into the visuals, and the pixelated background doesn’t contribute to the high-quality visuals everywhere else, but the visuals are well-done for what they are. The story, however, could use some improvements. Specifically, quite a bit of the dialogue could be improved, and the introduction of this aspect of eternal youth is too forced and fast-paced through askew pacing. It would benefit the animation to take more time to set up sequences, though the introduction of the character “Queen Kalina” is fairly well done. Pacing, in general, requires many touch-ups, as explanations of events become exposition dumps rather than story-enhancing aspects. The entire aspect of “Eternal Youth” being accidentally given to a pineapple is pretty hilarious, but there definitely could be some improvements to the delivery and presentation of this occurrence.
Overall, it’s a solid animation with great visuals and a unique style, though the story and pacing are a bit lacking and the dialogue could use some improvement. It isn’t a stellar work and has clear problems, but an improvement in dialogue and delivery would benefit this series in a major way. I can definitely see this becoming a huge series with the potential it exhibits from this very episode, and I do recommend it to viewers.
This no doubt is some of the best work I’ve seen on SN. Starting off on visuals, they are consistent and high quality all throughout with the setting being well defined through a cartoonish art style. Effects are gorgeous a d simple rather than overly flashy. Only problems is the low quality backgrounds used for skys done likely through BG images along with the static fire effects which adds to the setting only negatively. This also does amazing with the camera work which works in parrelel to the music and story. Angles are amazingly done too. Onwards to animation this is solid with how the camera moves along with how characters move with facial work and so on. All of it captures a specific style. Story wise it would be awsome if there was a little bit more build up, but that isn’t to say that it was already done well where it is showing where JackFly originates from which is a pineapple. Comedy done perfect in conjunction with the story. There also is with what I believe is forshadowing to the plot later on in the story with the villian wanting revenge on Jack for stealing her eternal youth and taking her soul. This could be really interesting as this builds up.
