Story and Humor are inapplicable to this animation, so I won’t critique them.

As is standard with Kenny, the movement and fluidity of the animation is well done, but every other aspect of the fight, including the fighting itself, is lacking quite a lot. The pacing of the fight itself is very abrupt and sudden, and the ending of the fight leaves a “that was it?” feeling for the audience with how quick everything ends without much of a climax. The camera work leaves a lot to be desired too, and it doesn’t contribute at all to presenting the animation and makes it feel stiff.

Another signature of Kenny’s is quick 2-second fighting followed by long dialogue pauses, and this demo has its fair share of those as well, though to less of an extent since it is a shorter video. The pacing is pretty badly demonstrated, and it destroys any momentum that could be built up during the fight.

The real problem with this animation is that it really isn’t even a demo. A demonstration should show what a character’s specific traits, qualities, powers are, and this feels like a simple fight rather than a depiction of a character. Demos can be extremely short and still convey a lot about a character. Take, for instance, The Dojo Duelist Demo of Chronos, animated by Jomm. In a quick 30 seconds, we already know that Chronos’s main power is Time Manipulation/Time Stopping, he knows how to use handguns, and his main signature weapon is a knife, which he is well skilled with. All the while, this is conveyed in a very cool, well-animated fashion. All of that, without dialogue.

This? This is just a guy throwing some powerful punches, taking a hit, saying he has “an easy counter” to the photokinetic structure his opponent creates, and firing a purple beam at him. That isn’t a lot, as there are literally hundreds of characters across SN who can take hits and throw powerful punches. Saying he has a counter to something doesn’t describe his power in its entirety, and the lack of detail in the purple energy he unleashes doesn’t help in the slightest. When you look at the demo of Chronos, you know who he is: a street fighting brawler who is proficient with guns, has a knife he is well trained with, and has a specific power of stopping time. When you look at this demo, all you see is a guy who can punch things, get punched, and use obscure unexplained magic. He has no special quality that sets him apart. Is it his type of magic? His beanie? What?

Perhaps this is a problem with the demo not depicting the uniqueness of the character well enough or the lack of uniqueness of the character, but it still overall creates a mediocre animation and demo. The fight is ok, the pacing slows things down a lot, but reviewing this as a demo, it is pretty bad.

Low 2/5.

Not really much here. Especially for a demo of a character. Consisitant problem I see here with Beyond Humanity and other animations of Kenneys is the Animation is perfect and just beautiful, but just isn’t used and every other category suffers. The small little effect seen are nice but they aren’t hard at all to do. So are thry mind blowing? No, but they aren’t lazy so there’s that. Otherwise, theres a lot to improve here in terms of content.
