Story and humor are inapplicable to this animation, so I won’t critique them.
This is a 2D fight between Subzero and Scorpion by Black Animator, and it really lacks a lot in overall substance. The movements and animation itself is pretty decent, but that doesn’t excuse the lack of overall content that this animation exhibits. Mortal Kombat is known for outrageous and creative gore, interesting and memorable character designs, and the game fighting itself. There isn’t much interesting here that the animation provides. It is simply two characters punching themselves in an uninspired and stereotypical fashion. It’s hard to critique this animation because there isn’t really anything here to critique because of how short and devoid of legitimate substance it is.
This what one thing I had hope in being good. But there is a lot missing. Ignoring the lack of content this delivers, it doesn’t speak so much of mortal kombat to me. While the characters and abilities are definitely mortal kombat, the brutality is absent and it ends up as the average SN animation. The movement overall is decent but the movements that stand out among the others are very lacking. This is just dissapointing in the end even when it tries to capture an arcade style.
2/5

Low 2/5. Wouldn’t recommend it.
